Malcolm Campbell (U.S.A)

The Campbell brothers made their first board in 1968. "We took the glass off a longboard, reshaped it, and then started glazing it. We really didn't know what we were doing and needless to say, we made quite a mess. We heard of people doing it, so we went ahead and took a look. There weren't many shapers and we didn't know any. John Sholmer of Silverstrand Surfboards was the main guy in Oxnard. Ventura had more going on with shapers like Tom Hale, Morey Pope and William Dennis were there. We had never seen a surfboard being shaped, so we kind of copied it with hand tools like drafting knives and sanding blocks. We approached it as if we were working with wood." Malcolm Campbell is a legendary shaper/surfer who, along with his brother Duncan, created the first functional three-fin surfboard - 10 years before Simon Anderson's "Thruster" design. The Campbell brothers, who were part of the emerging shortboard revolution sparked by the Australians, conspired together in their father's garage on a futuristic, hydrodynamic system they named the "Bonzer." This design would give more speed and control over a wave than a single or double fin surfboard. Today, Malcolm believes that the Bonzer's performance potential has yet to be realized. Past, present and future... come together in each Campbell Brothers three and five fin Bonzer, creating a dimension of timeless performance and pleasure. The past is expressed through 50 years of experience in the shaping and focused contemplation of surfboard design. The present is represented by state-of-the-art shaping, superior lenses, and our interaction with many of the world's best surfers. The future is manifested in the open performance capabilities of the Bonzer, which have not yet been fully realized. Simply put, the Bonzer is the most futuristic surfboard design on the planet.

Bonzer mechanic campbell brothers
Designed to optimize the flow of water under the board and maximize the energy generated while riding. With specific fins and an innovative profile, the Bonzer facilitates the transition from rail to rail and improves trajectory control. By combining side and concave fins, drag is reduced, providing an energy efficient board that maximizes performance with minimal effort. Embrace the Bonzer system for a revolutionary, high-performance surfing experience.
Bonzer 5 bonzer 3
Discover the differences between the Bonzer 3 and 5 fin systems, which offer similar performance, with a slight improvement in speed and maneuverability for the 5 fin system, ideal for a contemporary surfing style. These configurations can be adapted to any model in the catalog, but the size and model of board you choose will have the most significant impact on your ride.

The center fin is adjustable to suit each surfer's preference. Follow these tips to optimize its positioning:
1) If you are having trouble finishing your turns, move the fin up.
2) For strong cutbacks, move the center fin back.
3) Align the leading edge of the center fin with the end of the side fins.
Feel free to experiment to find the ideal configuration for your surfing style.
